Seeds of      Love Ministry

How We Got Started

In 2017, we were planning an event to auction off new and gently used items to raise money for various church ministries. During this time, we met a woman who wanted to donate, but stated she was unemployed with no money. She however began telling us about deals she could find for new, tangible items that were either free or highly discounted and offered the items to us. She may not have had any money to donate, but God surely provided her with “seed” to sow in the form of these new items. The event raised over $2,500 with half of the donated items coming from her.

In 2018, shortly after the fundraising event, we received a vision where God was holding out His hands and pouring out seeds. We knew in that moment the Lord wanted us to reach our community by using every day, tangible items to love, serve, and help meet the needs of others. Seeds of Love Ministry launched in 2018 immediately following this vision, but became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in March 2021.

God has given everyone “seeds” including time, talents, treasures, and testimonies. We use the seeds given to us to share the love of Christ with others by building relationships, meeting tangible needs, and working closely with other local nonprofits and organizations to serve our community. Our vision is simple...we strive to be soul changers by planting seeds of God's love!

About

Continued uncertainty in the economy along with other unforeseen life circumstances have left many people struggling to provide for their basic needs. Over 10% of Clay and 14% of Duval County residents fall below the poverty level. No one is immune from financial hardships, and our goal is to encourage and help mitigate the stress of individuals and their families experiencing hardships by providing them with some of their basic needs while they work towards becoming self-sufficient again. We serve and meet tangible needs for approximately 200 individuals a month in Clay and Duval Counties specifically. We also partner with other local nonprofit organizations to serve and provide awareness of services and other resources available within the community by hosting various outreach events throughout the year.

While used items are an absolute treasure and a great blessing, we provide only

brand new items to those we serve as a means to complement the used items they receive. We believe there’s something special about being a first owner or user of an item, and this is our way of reminding those we serve that they are truly special, especially since many of them often feel deflated because of their circumstances. In everything we do and provide, we desire those we serve to know they are our first thought, not an afterthought.

Items we provide include, but are not limited to:

  • Clothing

  • Undergarments

  • Shoes

  • Household items such as small cooking appliances, bedding, towels, etc.

  • Household cleaning and hygiene items

  • And much more depending on available inventory (various baby items, small furniture pieces, toys, etc.)

Items we do not provide, but can provide referral information:

  • Food

  • Rent, utility, or bill pay assistance

  • Money

  • Vehicles

  • Baby Diapers
